Josh lives in the McLoughlin District in Oregon City with his wife and two young boys. A native Oregonian, Josh was born and raised in the Mid-Willamette Valley. After high school, Josh enlisted in the United States Navy, stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington State. Josh completed one overseas deployment on the aircraft carrier USS John C Stennis. After his initial four-year active duty contract was up, Josh transitioned to a drilling reservist so he could attend college full time. Josh attended Oregon State University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance. Josh met his wife, also an OSU alumnus, at Oregon State University. After college, they moved to the Portland area.
Josh has held a number of different corporate finance positions including Financial Analyst, Finance Director, and Chief Financial Officer. While working full time, Josh obtained his Masters of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Finance. Josh is also a Certified Management Accountant and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and the CFO Leadership Institute. Josh loves Oregon. He enjoys the diverse topography; going to the coast or mountains. He enjoys evening family walks around the McLoughlin neighborhood. Taking his boys to Mike’s to get an ice cream cone, to the park, and to the library. Riding the elevator.
He’s also a dedicated gym goer, starting his day at the gym almost every day.
Josh believes in a government that works for the people, not one that looks to control people. He’s not so smart to think he knows what is right for all Oregonians, but thinks most people are smart enough to know what for themselves. He doesn’t want the government choosing winners and losers. He’s tired of Democrats in Salem intruding more and more into the lives of Oregonians. He isn’t afraid of making tough decisions. He isn’t a politician. He’s an Oregonian who loves his state and wants to leave it a better place for future generations.
